Does your Edmonton business have a content marketing strategy?
What is content marketing and why should Edmonton businesses think about it? In the early days of the Internet, websites were launched slowly. Most of the time the web designer was waiting for the web content, and web page architecture from the client. This could delay the project for months. Having said that, once the content was up, it stayed the same for years before being changed.
Today, the online world is driven by content, fresh, juicy, breaking news type content. The Internet is one large human sensor network. Often this content is written by citizen and pro journalists, bloggers and hacks…some of it out right lies.
The central issue here is “quality”. The quality of the writing, the background information and sources. Professional journalism is professional for a reason, they are trained to check facts, and get multiple sources whenever things are in question. The rest of the social media, blogging world? Questionable as we all know.
What about professional business copy-writing? There are companies out there, local Edmonton area companies, like ours, who you can hire to write great copy for blog posts and articles. They, (we) would recommend having a digital “content strategy”. The days of stagnant copy on your website should be gone. You can’t afford to sit idle. Google depends, indeed, Google thrives on fresh data and digital content dripping with a “that was so 8 seconds ago” twinge.
The search engine optimization battle is won with an optimized content strategy designed to dominate your market space, if not you, then your competition.
Will this battle yield sloppy sales driven content optimized strictly for the benefit of the prospective customer audience? Yes. Will it damage our cool? Sure, some spam riddled garbage does make it through, soon Google’s Artificial Intelligence (or someone else’s) will remove that before we ever see it in the search results. Then we’ll see the SEO guys and gals freak.
Having a content strategy is critical, including a well balanced diet of all content types, text, video, images, and even some audio is recommended for all Edmonton businesses. Add to that a human voice distributed within social media, and you’ve got a terrific way to share this content extending out from your blog that helps to build rapport.
